The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic were officially launched at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, 2025, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. They are available for pre-order now, with general availability starting on July 25, 2025.
The Galaxy Watch 8 series introduces a “squircle” design, blending circular displays with a more rectangular casing, a departure from previous purely circular designs. Both models are powered by Samsung’s new 3nm Exynos W1000 5-core chipset, promising enhanced performance and power efficiency. A significant new feature is the integration of Google’s Gemini AI assistant for hands-free voice control. The displays are brighter than ever, reaching up to 3,000 nits peak brightness. Samsung has also focused on improved health tracking, adding features like “Antioxidant Index,” “Vascular Load,” and enhanced sleep analysis with “Bedtime Guidance” and sleep apnea detection. The Watch 8 is designed to be Samsung’s thinnest and lightest smartwatch, while the Watch 8 Classic brings back the beloved physical rotating bezel and introduces a “Quick Button” for added functionality, alongside double the storage of the standard model. Both watches run on One UI 8 Watch (based on Wear OS 6).
